Winona Kathleen "Kate" Deckard

December 20, 1928 - February 11, 2022

Winona Kathleen “Kate” Deckard, age 93, a lifelong resident of Bloomington passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Monroe Place. She was born one of eight children on December 20, 1928 to Vernon and Zelphia Arnie Sowders. Kate attended Smithville High School and worked for the City of Bloomington at the Lake Monroe water treatment facility, from which she retired after 20 years. She leaves behind her children and their respective spouses, Steve Deckard and Lida, Terry Deckard and Pat, Kathy Runyon and Barney, Rick Deckard and Melodee, Cindy Flynn and Waine, Roger “Butch” Deckard and Denise. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Kate was predeceased by her parents, her husband Roger in 2013, her siblings, Irene McGammon, Laverne Tarter, Bill, Russell, Richard, Wendell, and Larry Sowders, and two grandchildren, Steven Edward Deckard and Lacey Joy Deckard, and great granddaughter Morgan Rose Deckard. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00AM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM also at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory.
