Carolyn Sue Luther

Carolyn Sue Luther 89, of Seymour formerly of Bloomington/Bedford passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Born May 25, 1934 in Bloomington, Indiana. She was the daughter of Charles Theodore and Grace Eleanor (Bell) Hawkins. Carolyn attended Central High School. Carolyn worked in assembly for RCA, Sarkes Tarzian and GE in Bloomington for many years, she also worked for over 20 years as a private self-employed caregiver in Bloomington before retiring. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Bloomington for over 50 years. Carolyn was an amazing mother and grandmother with a generous heart. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, working puzzles, traveling, & drinking coffee on the front porch. Carolyn was an avid animal lover & cherished her beloved cat Tiny. She touched the hearts of her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Carolyn is survived by her children, John Wiles of Scottsburg, IN; Danny Hays (Sharon) of Port Saint Lucy, FL; Susan (Jerry Appleberry) Luther of Bedford, IN; Debbie (Scott) Gentry of Seymour, IN. She was a loving grandmother to fifteen grandchildren; Angie, Theresa, Joey, Jeanne, Brent, Shane, Brenton, Justin, Candy, Clayton, Jasmine, Jenna, Michael, Abby and Elijah; two step grandchildren, Alaina Applegate and Kayla Kepler. Two great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; also, by her two sisters, JoJo (Marvin) Wilkerson of Bloomington, IN; and Dixie (Hebron) Bowling of Connersville, IN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles T. and Grace E. Hawkins, daughter in-law Dena Wiles, great granddaughter Emerson, brother Charles Hawkins, sisters Shirley Woods, Janet Bean, Sharon Simmons and Diana Simmons. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to time-of-service Thursday March 28, 2024. The funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday March 28, 2024 at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington, Indiana. Burial will follow at Hanson Cemetery, 9800-9848 South Hanson Cemetery Road, Bedford, IN 47421. Following the burial, there will be a celebration of life at the neighboring shelter house.
