Darrell L. Prince

Darrell L. Prince, 93 of Bloomington passed away on Monday February 20, 2023 at Cedarhurst Memory Care. He was born July 7, 1929 in Monroe County, Indiana the son of Arthur Jessie and Pauline (Tate) Prince. Darrell attended Smithville School. He married the love of his life Norma Jean Kinser on July 12, 1947 in Heltonville, Indiana. They were happily married for sixty-four years. Darrell worked in the Quarry for Indiana Limestone for over forty years before retiring in 1982. He also took on extra work during the off seasons in the quarry; he was a timber cutter, he did masonry work and worked for a few years at Indiana University as a custodian. Darrell was a member of Labours International Union of North America #471 (LiUNA), He enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, shooting his guns, gardening, and he enjoyed going to the races with his family, watching basketball - especially IU. Darrell was a family man and his family was very important to him. He built his own house and worked on it over the years with his family. Darrell is survived by his children, Jack (Elaine) Prince; Donna (Stephen) Young; Becky (Don) Smith; Terry (Leslie) Prince; Tim Prince; Missy (Ed Smith) Monyhan; his grandchildren, Chad Prince, Brian Strain, Isaac Strain, Kevin Young, Kyle (Jeannine)Young, Brandi (Matt) Miller, Courtney (Tony) Mullis, Emilie (Aaron) Biggs, Ellen (Craig) Nielson, Travis Prince, Blake Prince, Jacob Monyhan, and Cole Monyhan ; his great grandchildren, Alexis, Lacie, Kyelee, Camden, Gavin, Cory (Logun), Austin, Jarren (Vanessa), Jenna, Jayden, Brady, Devin, Macie, Avery, Lincoln, Samson, Claire, Knox, Dailynn, Addelyn, Wesley and Remington; his great great grandchildren, Hawk; Makani; Keanu; Nakoa; and many nieces; nephews and cousins. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings, and his wife, Norma Jean Prince. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old St Rd 37 Bloomington. With Rev. Stephen Johnson Officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to time-of-service Tuesday February 28, 2023 also at the funeral home.
