Dr. Donald Clarence Tyte D.D.S.

Dr. Donald Clarence Tyte, D.D.S. age 90 of Bloomington passed away Monday morning August 7, 2017 at the Meadowood Heath Pavilion. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Clarence and Jessie Smith Tyte. Donald was a graduate of Wabash High School in 1944, and Indiana University where he received both his B.S. and D.D.S. While he was at Indiana University he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was very proud of his service in the United States Army Air Corp where he participated in the preliminary training for the future space program. Donald’s dental practice in Bloomington spanned over 40 years and was very active with various organizations including the Bloomington Country Club, First Methodist Church, The Elks Club, American Legion, The Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball and Football where he served as a director and past President, Indiana Senior Golf Association, and as president of both the Monroe County Dental and South Central Indiana Dental Societies. He also was very fond of bird watching, hunting and fishing as well as traveling around the United States and various foreign destinations. Donald leaves behind his wife to whom he married in June of 1949, Virginia Hoadley Tyte, children Debra Tyte of Indianapolis, Diane K. Beard and husband Mark Montfort of Greenwood, David Tyte of Houston, Texas, and Daniel Tyte and wife Stephanie Lee of Carmel. He is also survived by grandchildren Brian Beard and wife Kassie, and Ben Beard, all of Greenwood, Douglas Tyte of Montana, Juliane, Ryan, Aiden, and Avery Tyte all of Carmel; great grandchildren Bella and Sophi Beard of Greenwood; a brother Dale Tyte and wife Mimi Marquet of Bellavista, Arkansas; noece Dana Combs and husband David, nephew Don W. Tyte and great niece and nephew Karly and Jacob Combs. Donald was predeceased by his parents, son Douglas H. Tyte, and son in law Doug Case. An informal gathering to celebrate Donald’s life will be held Thursday August 10, 2017 in the Meadowood Terrace Room from 2PM to 4PM. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers you honor Donald by making a contribution to either the Boy Scouts of America, the American Heart Association or the Boys and Girls Club of America.
