Donald John Williams

Donald J. Williams passed away on November 16, 2024, in Bloomington, IN, at the age of 93. Don was born on April 23, 1931, in Cincinnati, OH, to Lucille and Edward Williams. Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Joanne, of almost 65 years and his daughter, Kathleen Van der Schans. He is survived by his children, Rick Williams (wife, Karen, children Michaela Miller, Scott Williams, Caitlin Huser, Ryan Williams) of Thompson Station, TN; Michael Williams (wife Mary, children Meagan Williams and Erinn Conard) of Ellettsville, IN; Judy Williams (husband Philip Hill) of Bloomington, IN; Larry Williams (wife Missy, children Anthony Williams and Mackenzie Bosley) of Bloomington, IN; Ken Williams (wife Shari, children Colin Williams and Griffin Williams) of Eden Prairie, MN., and his daughter, Kathleen Williams Van der Schans (husband Raymond, children Mackenzie Van der Schans and William Van der Schans), of Bloomington IN, who passed in 2018. Don was proud to say he had 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Our dad worked hard as a pharmacist for 42 years. Back when we were little, he owned his own pharmacy for several years called Don’s Pharmacy in Ohio. It sold Buster Brown children’s clothing which led to us wearing matching Buster Brown outfits much to our dismay. He was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Church since moving to Bloomington 57 years ago. You could find him there with family every Sunday. For many years Don was an active member of Bloomington St. Vincent de Paul, and enjoyed flying Radio-controlled planes with his Club. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. A visitation is scheduled on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.to 12:00pm with a Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 12:00pm at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2222 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana.
