Fern R Myers

Fern Ruth Myers, 90, of Bloomington, IN, died on October 17, 2020. Fern was married to Roscoe C Myers for 60 years prior to his passing in January 2009. Fern and Roscoe had a large and loving family that started with their three surviving children: daughter Sandra (Jim) Ladra of Valparaiso, IN, son Wesley (Mary Beth) Myers of Indianapolis, IN and daughter Lora West of Indianapolis, IN. Fern is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The grandchildren (and great-grandchildren) by family are: Jill Kellogg of Downers Grove, IL, Nickolas (Noah, Nora), Bridget (Wyatt, Kellen, Emmett, McCoy) and Luke Ladra, all of Valparaiso; Jason (Lily, Cameron) and Jeremy Myers of Bloomington and Ryan Lobsiger (Cooper, Eli) of Indianapolis; Grant and Morgan West of Indianapolis. Born in Daviess County, Indiana on January 8, 1930, Fern lived in Bloomington since 1956. She was employed at Sarkes Tarzian (along with Roscoe), along with being a loving wife, homemaker, mother. Fern was also a lifelong member of the Alpha Delta Omega philanthropic sorority. Both Fern and Roscoe so enjoyed camping and boating, originally on beautiful Lake Lemon in Bloomington where the family spent most weekends in the early years. After retirement, Fern and Roscoe continued to enjoy time with family in Bloomington in addition to many warm and sunny days with family and friends in their home in Florida. Fern is best known for the simplest of things…being a dedicated wife and caring mother/grandmother, working hard, making everyone she touched feel cared for and special. She was a truly kind person who encouraged all to live in the present. Her now famous adage has always been “one day at a time, dear, one day at a time.” Perhaps everyone can learn a bit from this fine and gentle lady. A private, small family service will be held at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37 in Bloomington with burial at Clear Creek Cemetery, next to Roscoe.
