Gary R. Stewart

Gary Ronald Stewart, 82, of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at his home in Bloomington. He was born on August 1, 1936 in Bloomington, Indiana the son of Gus and Ethyl (Neal) Stewart. Gary started working at 15 years old on local plumbing jobs and afterward became a member of the UA Local 440 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Indianapolis in 1967. He has worked on numerous plumbing projects throughout central Indiana including Eli Lilly and AUL building. He also worked on 20,000 leagues under the sea attraction at Disney World Florida and Boise Cascade paper mill in Minnesota. He was the Pastor of Gospel Light Tabernacle in Martinsville for some years, and then for 25 years he was Pastor of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Bloomington, Indiana retiring in 2012. Gary loved serving the Lord, and he enjoyed traveling, projects around the house, and helping build three of his houses, he raised cattle, and he especially loved fishing with his grandchildren and also spending time with his family and friends. he will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Gary is survived by his wife; Charlotte R. Stewart of Bloomington two sons; Marcus D. (Rheba) Stewart of Paragon, Ronald D. (Pamela) Stewart of Bloomington, six grandchildren; Kevin Graves, Alyssa (Brian) Whaley, Rebekah (Zachary) Lapossa, Ryan (Brittney) Stewart, Olivia (Jonah) Wolfe and Evan Stewart and five great grandchildren; Joshua Graves, Benjamin and Judah Whaley, Weston and Rylee Stewart, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers; Harold, James, Melvin, Estell, Jack, Wendell and Robert Stewart and two sisters; Wilma Walker and Mary Love. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Allen Funeral Home & Crematory 4155 S. Old St Rd 37, With Bro Brian Whaley and Bro Timothy McKay officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Bloomington and Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 10:00am to service time at the funeral home.
