James R. "Jim" Moore

James R. “Jim” Moore, 82, of Martinsville passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 3, 1941 in Linton, Indiana the son of Carl Russell and Zella Elouise (Begerman) Moore. Jim attended the Linton Schools. Jim married the love of his life Janet Kay Richardson on July 12, 1974 in Bloomington, Indiana they were happily married for forty-nine years. Jim worked first as a mechanic for McCammon’s in Linton in his early years. He then worked as a stock handler for RCA for over 25 years, and then he worked in maintenance for PTS for over ten years before retiring. He was a member of the Turning Point Apostolic Church in Ellettsville. Jim was an amazing husband, father, grandfather. He loved his family, they were very important to him and was the pride of his life. Jim enjoyed working on the lawn, planting his garden and flower garden, watching birds, fishing, kayaking, watching sports, especially the Reds, Cubs and was an IU sports fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Janet Moore of Martinsville; his children, Kevin (Sally) Moore of Linton; Lisa (Chris) Steiner of Bowling Green, IN; Shelly (Neil) Bedwell of Coalmont, IN; Ryan (Kristi) Moore of Wilmington, NC; Courtney (Rev Brian) Harrison of French Lick; Casey (Jamie) Southern of Martinsville; his grandchildren; Jacob Moore, Kevin (Sarah) Moore, Tyler (Haley) Moore, Ian Steiner, Dorinda (Stephen) Petho, Joshua Bedwell, Valerie Treadway, Marisa, Haley and Emma Moore, Jackson, Macey, Myla and Maddox Harrison, Alexander (McKenzie) Southern and Alexis Southern, his great grandchildren; Rosalind and Rachel Moore and Wrenley Southern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Zella; a brother, Donald Ray Moore; three sisters, Patricia Lou McKinnon; Bonnie Lee House; Doris Jean Moore; a great grandson Caiden Bristoe. A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Turning Point Apostolic Church. With Rev. Ron Hawkins and Rev. Brian Harrison officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm pm on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Turning Point Apostolic Church. Burial will be at 11:00am Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Hanson Cemetery. Memorial Contribution may be made to Turning Point Apostolic Church. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
