Juanita Jones Hedrick

Juanita Jones Hedrick, 95, of Bloomington passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at her residence. She was born on November 2, 1923, the daughter of Ras and Myrtle (Still) Jones. She was employed at Indiana University for 34 years. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for over 60 years, and served on its Administrative Board, Board of Trustees, and was a member of Joy Circle. She was a long time member of the Monroe County Historical Society. She served on the Indiana University Credit Union Committee; it’s Board of Directors and was the first woman to become president of the Credit Union’s Board of Directors. She was a 25 year member of the National Secretaries Association, and served as the Bloomington Chapter’s president for two years. She served on the IU Staff Council for many years. First and foremost, she was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Donna (Suzy) Hays, Deborah Reed (husband, Steve) and Barbara (B.J.) McElroy all of Bloomington; grandchildren, Yvette Hays-Davis, Chip Hays, Jimmie McElroy (wife, Amanda), Courtney Vencel (husband, Logan), and Steve Reed II, all reside in Bloomington; four great-grandsons, Riley Hays-Allen, Drew Hays, McCoy Vencel, and Heston McElroy, all of Bloomington; two great-granddaughters, Kyle Vencel and Quinn Hays, both of Bloomington and sister-in-law, Lucy Hedrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Phillip Eugene Hedrick, two sisters, Jane Fleetwood and Lorene Tramontana; two brothers, Herbert Jones and Woodrow Jones, and one great-granddaughter, Peyton Pilar Hays-Frazier. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington with Rev. Doug Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Friends may visit at Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral services.
