Lenora Eads

Lenora Eads (Deckard) passed peacefully at home on March 16, 2025, in Bloomington, Indiana, at the blessed age of 102. Lenora is survived by her daughter, Linda Patton (Donald) of Bloomington; siblings, Leroy Deckard (Evelyn) of Bloomington and Gene Deckard (Connie, deceased) of Bloomington; grandchildren, Donita King (Raymond) of Bloomington and Stephen Patton (Angela) of Springville; one great-grandchild, Jacob Patton, and many nieces and nephews. Lenora is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Eads; siblings, Juanita Bray (Paul, deceased) of Bloomington, Glen Deckard (Bernice, deceased) of Bedford, Gilbert Deckard of Bloomington, Richard Deckard (Colleen) of Ellettsville, Vernon of Clear Creek and Edward of Clear Creek. Lenora was born on May 19, 1922, in Monroe County, Indiana, to Otto and Flossie Pink Deckard. She married Stanley Eads on May 16, 1941. The couple spent the majority of their lives in Smithville, Indiana. She worked at Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. for 17 years. She also worked at Bray’s Bait and Tackle with her sister Juanita for a period of time. Her favorite things were going to church, reading her Bible, and singing gospel songs. She once mentioned she had read through her King James Bible 53 times, and that was in the 1990s – she would continue to do so for the remainder of her life. Above all, she wanted to serve and be a living witness for Jesus. She enjoyed mushroom hunting and would pass the days crocheting – several of us still have our Christmas trees decorated with her many handmade snowflakes each year. She was a hard worker and enjoyed canning from the garden that her husband Stanley planted every year. She attended Whitehall Wesleyan Church for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her only two grandchildren. She had a very special bond with her only great-grandson, Jacob Dean Patton – the two would spend a great deal of time together talking, and her eyes would light up with joy whenever he came to visit. The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice for their care and dedication. Visitation is scheduled for 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd 37, Bloomington, Indiana 47401. The funeral is scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home with an hour of visitation beforehand. The interment will take place at Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington. Eddie Shelton will officiate the ceremony.
