Marie L. (Hawkins) Honeycutt

Marie L. (Hawkins) Honeycutt, 93, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Golding Living Center surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on September 12, 1926 in Monroe County, Indiana and was the daughter of James Walter and Mary Florence (Vaught) Hawkins. She attended Smithville High School. Marie married Carl Russell Honeycutt on October 6, 1962 in Monroe County, Indiana. And she worked as a custodian at Indiana University. She was a member of the Sanders Pentecostal Church most of her life, she was a former member of the Old Country Church in Harrodsburg. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, she loved reading her bible daily, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Marie is survived by her son, Richard G. (LaDonna) Henderson of Bloomington; her daughters, Marilyn A. (Bill) Wilson of Bloomington; Rita J. (Leroy Whaley) Branam of Smithville; her grandchildren, Sarah Barrera, Scott Henderson, Shelly Weddle, Bobby Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Adam Branam and Justin Henderson; great grandchildren Bailey Wilson, Tiffany Smith, Bray Henderson, Cody Smith, Katilyn Spence, Corey Henderson, Dylan Wilson, Caden Henderson, Abigail Branam and Peyton Felix; and her great great grandchildren, Sierra Fleming, Zayden Glenn and Jaycob Spence; one sister, Nola Axsom of Bloomington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter and Mary (Vaught) Hawkins; husband Carl R. Honeycutt; one daughter, Marsha Weddle; a grandson, Ed Page; three brothers, Earl, Lloyd and Delmar Hawkins; three sisters Christina Young, Zelma Workman and Ola Axsom. A funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, March 2, 2020 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington, with Rev. Don Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, March 1, 2020 and on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 12 until service time at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to the St Jude’s Children Hospital or Backpack Blessing’s.
