Marjorie Irene (Morris) Bowman

Marjorie Irene (Morris) Bowman, age 90 passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at home under hospice care surrounded by family. Born October 19, 1934 in Chicago Illinois, the year the world's fair came to Chicago, to Virginia (Cardwell) Wells and Roy Morris. Marjorie was a 1952 graduate of Bloomington High School. As a freshman she started work at FW Woolworth and worked for 11 years when she quit to start a family. June 4,1 959, Marjorie married William "Bill" Bowman and together they had 3 children Jenny, Jimmy and Amy. Marjorie worked at Sarkes Tarizan in 1960 as an office worker and retired from WTTS/WGCL radio in 1999 as the station's controller. After retirement, she work one tax season at H&R Block and was the secretary at Fairview United Methodist Church until a stroke in 2007 she was also a member of the church. Marjorie is survived by daughters Virginia (Jenny) Bowman and Amy (Johnny) Carroll. She was Gma to grandchildren Rhea (Daniel) Johnson, Michael (Lacey Marcum) Bowman, Lacie (Kendall) Davis, Johnny Bowman, Daniel Bowman, Tia (Zach Deckard) Feller, Chelcie Bowman, Josh Carroll and Sarah Carroll and great grandchildren Chandler, Camryn & Cooper Johnson, Kylan Caver, Jaylin Sullivan & Zackery Bowman, Gabriel & Adelyn Davis, Audrina, Jade, Carson & Emily Bowman, and Wyatt Deckard. Also, Lacie & Chelcie's mom Tracie Demoss, and Audrina, Jade, Carson and Emily's mom Amanda Bowman; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Marjorie in death was her husband William "Bill" Bowman (2015), son James"Jimmy" Bowman (2012), sisters Phyllis Brinegar and Barbara Smith, brothers Ralph "David" Morris and Richard "Rick" Morris, sister-in-law Violet Morris, and Rhea & Tia's mom Rita Gardner. Marjorie was a beloved wife, mother, mother in law, and grandmother who lived her life full of faith and promise and will be greatly missed.. Sarah said grandma was simply the best! Funeral service for Marjorie will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd. 37 in Bloomington with George Hartzog officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
