Matthew J. Crandall

Matthew J Crandall, 50, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital with his loving family gathered around him. He was born on September 13, 1972, in Bloomington, Indiana the son of Robert L. and Ruthann (Jones) Crandall. Matt was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who cherished his family and friends deeply. He had such a big heart and never met a stranger. His kind and accepting nature always saw the best in people. He would go out of his way to help anyone, especially his family and friends. Matt enjoyed fishing, boating, mushroom hunting, mowing the yard, throwing cornhole, cooking out at home and listening to music. He also loved to ride motorcycles and cruise around in his car. He was always the life of the party, and it didn’t matter what occasion he could make you laugh. His sense of humor was one of his best qualities. He loved to laugh and would always remind us not to be so serious. The greatest treasure in his short life was his children, he loved them and was so very proud to be their dad. He graduated from Bloomington High School North in 1991. He held several jobs throughout his life, but he enjoyed driving a semi the most. He looked up to and learned so much about it from his older brother Rick. He is survived by his two daughters Cassie Tucker (Sean Derico) and Alyssa Crandall. His mother Ruthann Crandall, three brothers Tracy (LeeAnn) Deckard, Robby (Leisa) Crandall, Monty (Candice) Crandall, two sisters Penny Sterrett (Roy James), and Lori (Guy) Ferguson. Two Grandchildren Keegan and Sophia, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father, Robert L. Crandall, his brother, Rick Deckard, his sister, Kay Lynn Deckard, his nephew Chase Sterrett, and niece Kylie Crohn. We were so blessed and proud to have him in our family, there are no words to express how much he was loved and how much he will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023. The Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 4155 Old State Road 37, in Bloomington.
