Norman McMillan

Norman Lee McMillan, 85, went to meet his Lord on August 14, 2018. Norman was born to Roscoe and Nellie (Dyer) McMillan on January 17, 1933 in Bloomington, Indiana. Norman was a loving husband, father, papaw, great-papaw and great-great-papaw. Norman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marylou (Sluss) McMillan, whom is grateful for him introducing her to the Pentecostal way of life. It is a very good life living for his Lord. Norman is also survived by his sons, Michael McMillan and Sandy, AZ, Steve McMillan and Michele of Bloomington; daughters, Tammy Sauer and Chris of Bloomington, Julie Shields and Brian of Bloomington; grandchildren, Matt McMillan (Heather), FL, Kim Wright (Robert), AZ Brandon Sauer (Jess), Jason Sauer (Briana), CA, Brittney Taylor (Ryan), Shawn Smith, and Brandi Shields (Jake); great-grandchildren, Makayla, Gavin, Cohen, Charlie, Tatum, Haley, Abbey, Adrien; great-great grandchild, Nirvana. Norman is also survived by a step-son, Tim (Patti) Maholm and their family, step-daughter, Beth (Tom) Boruff; and step-grandchild, Daniel Hendrickson. Norman is also survived his baby dog, Prancer who liked to put on a show when they were together. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Dunning, niece, Karen Dunning; and granddaughter, Kimberly Sauer. Norman was baptized by Rev. K.C. Tiller at 11th Street Pentecostal Church at the age of 12. Occasionally, he played the trumpet and guitar. Later Norman attended the United Pentecostal Church of Highland Village. Norman assisted opening Sears in Bloomington, worked at Chrysler in Indianapolis, and Woolco in Arizona and Denver. During a country music charity event at I.U. Auditorium, Norman was presented the “Sagamore of the Wabash” Award by Governor Otis Bowen for his charity work for the children’s ward at Bloomington Hospital. He will be missed by his wife, children, loved ones, neighbors and Kroger family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington. Norman’s 2nd cousin, Scott Dyer will officiate. Norman will be laid to rest next to his father at Valhalla Memory Gardens, following the funeral. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
