Robert "Bob" Alan Briggs

Robert Alan (Bob) Briggs age 72 died on March 14, 2024 in his home in Bloomington Indiana. He was born in Brockton Massachusetts, son of Howard E. Briggs and Dolores L. Briggs (deceased). He is one of seven children, Anne Ciotti of Portland Maine, Howard E. Briggs Jr (deceased), Alan (JoAnn) Briggs of Texas, Raymond (Jayne) Briggs of Florida, John (Paula) Wright of New Hampshire, Howard (Veronica) Wright of Massachusetts. Bob’s siblings and friends visited Bob in the weeks before his death which was a wonderful gift to him as they traveled from all over the US. He leaves nephews and nieces, Howard E. Briggs III (deceased), Nina (Gary) Miller of Massachusetts, Michael (Megan Andrews) Covell of Colorado, Amy (Paul) Miller of Massachusetts, Shawn Higgins of Maine, Lisa Higgins Royland (Joe) of Maine, Stephanie (Scott) Storm of Texas, Courtney (Ben) Milbery of Massachusetts, James (Amanda) Poirier of Massachusetts, and Annie Poirier of Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife Louise E. (Sherman) Briggs, his son Christian M. Briggs and Julie James. He had wonderful friends from The Free Evangelical Fellowship, his home Church while living in Massachusetts, friends from Willow Creek Community Church from his time in Illinois, and many friends from Sherwood Oaks Christian Church here in Bloomington and especially members of his Life Group at Sherwood Oaks. He was surrounded by the best neighbors here in Bloomington and will be missed by all. Bob graduated from Brockton High school with the Class of 1969. After graduation he went to Technical School for Computer Programming training and spent his career in Information Technology always learning, always staying up to date as Computers and the Tech Industry evolved. He began in 1969 with a love and curiosity about computers which were in their early stages. He purchased a Radio Shack TRS 80 computer for a “home computer” in 1977, which was rare at that time. He has lived through the many changes and paradigm shifts in the world of technology. He never lost his passion and curiosity about all things technology. He worked hard at and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts when he was in his late 40’s. His passion for bringing out the best in the people that he worked with throughout his career endeared him to so many. He was humbled by the gift of being surrounded by such wonderful family, friends and colleagues. His Faith in Jesus has sustained him and was a source of confidence and comfort as he ended life here with us. A visitation will be held for Bob on Thrusday, March 21, 2024 at Sherwood Oaks Christian Chruch (2700 E Rogers Rd, Bloomington, IN 47401) from 9am-11am, followed by the funeral service at 11am. Allen Funeral Home and Crematory (4155 South Old State Road 37) is entrusted with the arrangements.
