Scott Vincent Knapp

Scott Vincent Knapp passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, in Bloomington, Indiana. He was 65 years old. He was born on August 17, 1953, to parents William Gerard and Wanda (Weathers) Knapp in Webster Groves, MO. He was raised there with his 3 siblings, and later spent time living in Kansas City, MO; where he graduated from the United Electronics Institute. Scott moved to Bloomington, IN, in 1973. While there, he began a career working at the Thomson Consumer Electronics (RCA) Bloomington facility. He advanced in numerous roles until the facility moved operations in 1998. After Thomson's closure, Scott transitioned to employment at Indiana University. He worked in various positions in database management until his retirement in 2018. While living in Bloomington, he met his former spouse, Beth Lynn Hurlburt. They were married on February 14, 1975, and raised four children together. They lived happily together until her passing in 2013. In that time, Scott volunteered in a variety of community organizations including the Jaycees and March of Dimes, as well as the BHSS band boosters. Scott had an interest in many sports, but he particularly enjoyed volleyball; and he played it casually with friends in varying venues throughout his life. He also loved music, and he had many interests in the arenas of science and technology. In his later years, Scott married to his surviving widow, Carol (Freeman) Knapp of Bloomington, with whom he shared his love for music and family. He is also survived by his children, Andy Freeman, Angie (Joe) Robertson, Megan (Nicholas) Divine, Wendi (Patrick) Davies of Judah, William of San Diego, Clarence (Tora) Knapp; and his 5 grandchildren, Joey (Cassie), Dillon, Morgan, Bailey, Teresa, Nikko, and Alex; as well as his siblings, Elaine (Behrooz) Adams of Jacksonville, FL, Cindy (Mark) Martin of St. Charles, MO, and Allan (Diane) Knapp of Okemos, MI. Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm, with services following at 12:00pm on May 11th at Allen funeral home 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Scott's name to Bloomington Hospice Foundation.
