Theodore L. Ciasto

Theodore L. Ciasto, age 83 of Bloomington passed away early Monday morning July 19, 2021 at his home with loved ones around him. Ted was born on December 17, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Theodore and Lillian Irene Smialek Ciasto. He graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1955 and the University of Illinois in 1959 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Ted spent his 30 plus year career as a mechanical engineer contractor with the federal government, namely with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division. Ted has a big family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He taught them many lessons, one of them being that the most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. And he did. His wife Sally was the love of his life and they were married for 58 years. Ted and Sally were deeply involved and devoted to the various roles they played as members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. They together served as Eucharistic ministers, readers at Sunday Masses, and any task the various priests over the years called upon them to fulfill. Ted is survived by he and Sally’s six children; Lisa Ann (Charles Orth) of Evansville; Ted (Rachel) Ciasto Jr. of Mooresville; Mary Kathleen Ciasto (Chris Nugent) of Bloomington; Bob Ciasto of Bloomington; Rick Ciasto of Bloomington; Leigh (Paige) Ciasto, of Louisville; 13 grandchildren, Noah; Sarah; Jake; Katie; Ellie; Hannah; Christopher; Megan; Morgan; Grace; Emily; Noelle; Dylan; Six great grandchildren, Grayson; Natalie; Emma; Luke; Rebel; Kate; brothers James (Linda) Ciasto, and Lawrence (Gail) Ciasto. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife Sally in June of this year, one son Michael James Ciasto, and 2 grandchildren Leslie Christine Orth and Harrison Levi Ciasto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday July 28, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday July 27, 2021 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37.
