Thomas Jacob Grubb

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our sweet boy, Thomas Jacob Grubb on October 11th, 2023. Jacob was born on December 12th, 2008 in Bloomington, Indiana to Jessica Grubb and Ryan Hughbanks. Jacob was raised, loved, and spoiled by his Mamaw and Papaw, Tina and Larry Owings. Jacob was such a light in this sometimes dark world and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. He touched the lives of so many people. During his time with us, he made a point to always help anyone with whatever he could, always ready to make someone smile and laugh. Anyone who knows Jacob, knows that his family, friends, and sports meant everything to him. Jacob attended Eastern Greene High School where he was a Freshman. He played Football, Baseball, but his favorite was always Basketball. He loved hanging out with his friends and being a class clown. You just couldn’t help but smile and laugh when he was around. He loved hanging out with his big cousin “Big Sexy”, his many, many friends, and his girlfriend Amanda. He enjoyed going to the cafeteria to give the staff a hard time and of course to see his mamaw. If you knew Jacob, you knew his favorite word was mamaw because that is all we ever heard. Jacob leaves behind his parents Jessica Grubb (Josh), Ryan Hughbanks, Siblings Jaxton & Nevaeh Trinkle, Jaden Hughbanks, Grandparents Tina & Larry Owings, Sandy Sparks and Tom Hughbanks, Great- Grandparents Paul DeMoss, Austin Owings, Clifton (Merilyn) Sparks, Brenda Hancock, Great Aunt Melissa Mclain, Several Aunts & Uncles Tosha (Matt) Blevins, Kayla (Shane) Franklin, Michelle (Shannon) Nisbet, Larissa ( Jason) Thompson- Cousins Clayton Franklin, Kelsey Blevins, Zayden Franklin, Jax Franklin, Whitney Mclain, Alex (Bella) Doyle, Nicholas Whaley, Garret & Gracie Carter, Ayden, Aubrey, Mason, Rylan & Waylon Thompson and Aubree Edwards. Jacob was welcomed into heaven by his Great Great Grandparents Robert and Dessa Mcvey, Great Grandmothers Sally Bartlett DeMoss & Phyllis Owings, Great Aunt and Uncle Ruthann Shelton and Bobby Alexander. Jacob loved and was loved by so many. He had so many friends that he loved and enjoyed hanging out with. Our family would like to personally Thank the King Family for taking in and loving our boy as one of their own throughout the years. He had his BEST last summer spent with them. From Boating, fishing, learning to shoot, to dressing up in silly outfits and video calling his family and friends. We are all born into a family but throughout life we choose to add on to our family. When Kaiden, Jacob, and Dodge got together you couldn’t help but roll your eyes and laugh until your stomach hurt. If you seen one, the other two weren’t far behind. They were the 3 PITAs that everyone loved. Jacob had so many bonus Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, and Grandparents that we are so very grateful for. You all helped shaped him into the amazing young man he was. Our family is forever thankful for all the love and support we have received during this devasting time from our family, friends, Eastern School staff and students, co-workers, and the entire community. Jacob may not be with us physically, but he will forever be in our hearts. Funeral services for Jacob will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 1:00PM at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old State Road 37. Burial will follow in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 5:00PM to 8:00PM also at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory.
