Verna DeLuce June 1946 – February 2021, Married 46 years to Buddy DeLuce Verna was a rare and one of a kind soul - Christian, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Servant, and Friend. She was an amazing person who always focused on helping others and left her mark on countless lives. The world is a darker place today without her light and she would want anyone reading this to simply have a blessed day in Christ. The creative writing teacher with “an idea a minute" would want us to go off the beaten path with this final assignment. We don't want to miss anything, so here we go! Jesus, His hands and feet, Buddy, prayer warrior, strength, selfless, Andy & Erin, Alan & Lauren, JaNean & Juliian Pollitt, her grandbabies Harry & Hazel, G to her Bubby and Sissy, “We Love you G-Pap”, Mother & Daddy, Mark, Cindy, Jen, Ben, Grayden, Lennon, Eric & Stacy, Jim & Lisa, Ben, Clay & Mallory, Hailey, Amanda & Kayla, the Actons, Buddy’s co-pilot, Smithville Christian Church, Emmaus, Chrysalis, go-for, working harder and longer than everybody, life-changing trip to Israel to walk where Jesus walked, Hawaii, Bellows Beach, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, proud Navy wife, God first and then country, cooking for the masses, hosting 40+ for parties, music, piano, playin’ in the church band, hymns, praise and worship, teacher extraordinaire, non-stop librarian, Tri-North, Fairview, Summit, huge heart for all kids, Amor Family Camp, Dean & Amy, Rick & Cindy, compassion for those in need, Our Savior, bracelets galore and rings to match, trendsetting fashion sense (from Goodwill), her mission, Godmother, unshakeable foundation, boundless grace, wisdom, morning devotion, family dedication, traveling with Buddy for thousands of miles while reading aloud to him, watching Wheel and Jeopardy in the evening with Buddy by her side, the Church, BOLD living for Jesus, fierce LOVE for others. Luvubye. A Celebration of Life will be held at Smithville Christian Church on Saturday, February 13, with open friends and family reception from 3-4:00 pm and a service to follow at 4:00. A live streamed link for the service can be found on the Smithville Christian Church website www.smithvillecc.org. A meal will be served after the service, with a take-out option available. Covid19 protocol will be followed. In lieu of flowers, donations to Smithville Christian Church in Verna’s memory are appreciated.
