Vivian Watkins

Vivian Watkins, 93, of Bloomington, Indiana and formerly of Tiffin, Ohio died peacefully on June 2, 2016. Vivian was born June 20, 1922 to Helen Bennett Crammer and Charles James Crammer in Asbury Park, NJ where she developed a life-long love of the Jersey shore. Vivian attended Limestone College for Women and graduated from Germantown Hospital Philadelphia PA as a registered Laboratory Technician. Vivian was the loving and patient wife of Dr. Thomas W. Watkins for 49 years, until Dr. Watkins death on Sept 25, 1993. Vivian’s interests included gardening, sewing, knitting, community service including Mobile Meals, and traveling with her family. Most importantly, Vivian provided a loving home in Tiffin for her children and wonderful experiences for her grandchildren at Lake Mohawk. We, the family, remember the Halloween costumes and Christmas sweaters made annually for children and grandchildren, her knowledge of flowers, and how to identify any bird. All of the children and grandchildren inherited Dr. Watkins and Vivian’s love of animals; with dozens of horses, cats, and dogs now spread throughout households in the United States and Europe. We admire Mom’s spunk in starting a new life in Bloomington at the age of 80 and can only hope that we are so brave and independent. Vivian is survived by her four children; Carol Watkins and partner Paul McKibben of Bullard Texas, Katherine Watkins of Cincinnati Ohio, Dr. Tom Watkins and wife Nancy Watkins of Bloomington Indiana and Susan Watkins and husband Scott Willms of Saint Julien, France. Vivian was blessed with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm June 11th at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington Indiana with a service to follow at 2:00 pm. We would like to especially thank all the wonderful staff at the Bell Trace Retirement community, who have been a constant source of smiles and warmth for Vivian in the last eight years and also the Hearthstone Senior Living Center. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to your local Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
