William Rex Wilson

William Rex “Bill” Wilson died on August 23rd, 2026, at Majestic Care of Bloomington Indiana. Bill was surrounded by his children, Kent, Becky with her husband Ronnie Hawkins, Paul David Senior. Also, there with him as he took his last breaths were his Grandsons Willy and Davey. Bill was born on October 20th, 1937, at the home of his Parents Herman Elbert and Opal (Like) Wilson there in the Farming lands surrounding Monroe City, Indiana. The Wilson’s and their fine neighbors are still Farming to this day including Bill Wilson and his Family. Bill made his decision to follow Jesus at an early age in the First Church of God Congregation conveniently located across the road from his Father’s main barn and stockyard. It was there in this Country Church a few years later where he and the love of his life, Patty Pancake were married on Valentines Day 1958. They loved life, creating our family moving to Bloomington in the 1960’s, building the house there on Rice Road in the 1970’s. For Fifty years Bill and Pat Wilson lived their lives. Mother helped Mr. Cook pioneer a whole new technology making historic advances in healthcare. Dad helped energize our Homes of America with his work at the (Distribution Apparatus Division ) of Westinghouse, later ABB. In 2008 we lost mother to a horrible fight with Ovarian Cancer. He missed her so much. He decided to not be sad and diverted himself into the overachieving Joyous life he shared with us all for 18 more years. He began to really rule over life, enjoying his Retirement helping Joe Wilson, Virgil Franks and Kenny Glass make The Cruising Classics Car Club and their annual Smithville in the Park Car Show each Labor Day into an amazing, not to miss event. Dad shrugged off Cancer in 2010 with a touch of radiation, six years ago in the middle of The Pandemic he looked death from a Bladder Tumor in the eye and said… “ I ain’t ready to Die yet! “. His victory over that was courtesies of Dr. Shumate, Urology Surgeon using the technology pioneered by Cook Group, I have no doubt! Our family was rallying these last six years into providing Home Health Care Assistance for Dad. With Kent his son being the only one trained, this was so stressful for my Sibling’s but, just like Dad, they actually absolutely, ROCKED IT! Mr. Bill Wilson is survived by his 90 years old Sister, Shirley Perry. His children, William Kent (wife Theresa) Wilson, Becky (husband Ronnie) Hawkins, Paul David Wilson Senior. His Grandchildren surviving him are Benjamin Hawkins (wife Susan ), Christa Lena (husband Joseph) Reimer, Paul David “Davey“ Wilson Junior and William “Willy“ Wilson. “Papaw Bill “has one very special Great Grand Daughter Audrey, born to Benjamin and Susan Hawkins 12 years ago. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor toward the United Ministries of Monroe County or Hospice House. Visitation for William Rex “Bill” Wilson will be held 4 to 7pm at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington Indiana on Friday August 28th for all friends and family to join together in celebrating his Life. A private Funeral Service for the Family will be held 1 pm on Saturday 8/29 at the Graveside in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, Indiana
