Yanick E. Edouard

Yanick E. Edouard, 68, of Bloomington passed away on Thursday March 9, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on October 12, 1954 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti the daughter of Edmond and Anita Edouard. Yanick attended High School in Haiti and New York. After high school she joined the Marine Corps and proudly served her country. After her military service she attended Indiana Business College and received her Associates Degree in Administrative Secretary. She then attended Indiana Vocational College and received her degree in Licensed Practical Nursing, and later went to Illinois Eastern Community College – Olney Central College Lincoln Trail Campus and received her Associate Degree in Nursing Science Registered Nurse. Yanick worked as a RN for over twenty-six years at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida, and at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute before retiring in 2018. She was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and The American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington. Some of her favorite things to do were reading, spinning, knitting, weaving, painting, scrapbooking, and various other crafts. She also enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, gardening, learning and speaking different languages, traveling, being with friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed. Yanick is survived by her children, Michele Shepherd; Steven Shepherd; Michael Shepherd all of Bloomington; Nicole Shepherd of Indianapolis; grandcat, DeeDee; five siblings, Nicole Cazeau; Edmond Emile Edouard; Clifford Edouard all of Florida; Mario Edouard of Alabama; Carolle Salvant of Florida; her aunt, Yolande Dufresne; cousins, Carol Ann and Daphne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond & Anita Edouard; and her niece Cassie; and her aunt Leone Latortue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Friday, March 17, 2023 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Thomas Kovatch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the Allen Funeral Home at 4155 S. Old St Rd 37, and from 10:00am to service time Friday at the church.
